Cool Tracks From 2025
Looking back at some interesting tracks from the past year
Check here for last year’s post. You can listen to these tracks as a mix in podcast form here:
Also there’s a playlist of these tracks (+ the previous years) here BUT BE ADVISED this is incomplete as not all selections are available on Spotify.
Upcoming Events
JAN 03 2026: Mooninite at Backstage Bar & Billiards (Las Vegas)
JAN 24 2026: Buzzin’ Beats #14 (International, SLC)
Tim Reaper - aisle
Starting things off with a smooth, chill, funky track from the personal archive of Tim Reaper (probably my favorite release of the year). A bit outside his usual classic drum & bass sound.
DJ Aaakmael - Autumn
Some nice & deep leftfield house. Really like the weird samples here.
KaySoul - Boogie-Woogie
A solid house track from South African producer KaySoul containing some smooth chords and cutting bass. It has some weirdness, but would still be a crowdpleaser in the club.
Jun Kamoda - Beautiful Fact Check
Big club track with one foot in low-end 90s breakbeats, and the other in modern abstract technique.
SSSLIP & Beton Brut - Pigeons
Cool grime vocal track that gradually becomes more and more club friendly as it goes on.
Area 3 - P-plunky
Very nice track from a Khotin ambient alias. Some good grainy digital textures in here.
Sally Shapiro - Did You Call Tonight
Still the best italo throwback project.
1000 Eyes - Warm Light (Graves)
Re-imagined track from the excellent soundtrack for Signalis. Hazy & minimal, but very textural & evocative.
Not Even Noticed - Aerial
Chill & easy going 90s-style acid breakbeat house from Germany.
Nine Inch Nails - Forked Reality
The best part of a mediocre Tron movie. This is some unhinged, raw, detuned synthesis that really does its best to elevate the film.
Lost Trax - And/Or
Solid electro track in the Drexciyan vein.
Client_03 - TESTBED DOT SELF_03
(Listen here)
Another release from the mysterious electro project. Great stuff as always.
BufoBufo - Petroglyph
Great mix of familiar styles here. Got some electro, classic breakbeat house, acid, and ambient elements all working together. Good stuff.
MPU101 - Goodbye
Some very nice arpeggiated ambient haze.
Smackos & Dim Garden - Buying An Autechre CD After School November 1994
Got a classic Legowelt track title here. From the album info: “Synthesizer folksongs full with nostalgia and yearning. Made on a rusty DX7 synthesizer & DexeD controller fed through various analog filters to warm it up a bit.”
Pugilist & Tamen - Limerick
Very pleasant drum & bass track with some dreamy elements.
Oneohtrix Point Never - Waterfalls
OPN is really good at finding the middle ground between making experimental music and listenable music. This track really takes you on a trip through all the sounds of this album, and OPN’s style in general.
Mad Rey - Luv (Dub Mix)
Some more smooth funk to end the list. A weird and hooky track that sounds like it’s from a different era (and maybe played at the wrong speed).
Thanks for reading! More to come in 2026
